JOB DESCRIPTION

My client’s main language is Ruby, but you don’t need to know Ruby or Rails. The company is looking for developers who can learn quickly and solve technical and functional challenges.

You’ll be given a full Ruby and Rails onboarding course to help you get to grips with Rails and its ecosystem.

You’ll start your assignment with a full three-week onboarding, during which team members will introduce you to our processes and technical stack. You’ll also take part in several peer-programming sessions to go into greater technical depth.

1. You’ll develop features with the Ruby on Rails framework and server-side rendered pages;

2. You will participate in the development of the internal API for customer areas built in React for the Front team;

3. You will proofread other developers’ code to ensure optimum code quality;

4. You’ll help maintain the platform by fixing bugs and continuously improving the codebase (version bumping, improving the developer experience, etc.);

5. You’ll take part in weekly rituals to improve our code practices, our processes and the quality of our deliverables, while having a real impact on decisions.

YOUR SKILLS

  • Ruby on Rails: a framework that enables rapid development of new functionalities and a robust architecture. Turbo and Stimulus for our front-end needs;
  • PostgreSQL / Redis databases;
  • Minitest & Jest for the test suite;
  • Sidekiq for asynchronous tasks (workers);
  • Github Actions & Circle CI for continuous integration;
  • Heroku for deployment;
  • Jira as a project management tool, Github as a code management tool.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Engineering degree or BAC+5 in computer science.
  • At least 3 years' professional experience in Web development (ruby, python, php, java...).
  • Product-oriented and keen to develop features that offer the best possible user experience.
  • Pragmatic and able to make the right compromises to quickly bring value to the user while maintaining robust and reliable code.
  • Autonomous in your tasks but not hesitating to ask for help if necessary.
  • Attentive to details: you systematically test your code and ensure the quality of the rendering before submitting it for proofreading.
  • Sensitive to good development practices (CI/CD, code review, peer programming...) and willing to share your knowledge with other developers.
  • Experience of code architecture issues (making code testable, maintainable, scalable and understandable to the rest of the team).
  • Bonus :Experience with an MVC web framework (Django, Symfony, Laravel) or Ruby on Rails.
